Frequently Asked Questions

How do I import an EPUB file?

Tap the + button on the library screen and select your EPUB file from your device storage or Files app. Files up to 50 MB are supported. The book is securely uploaded to our server so TeakReader can process it for reading, vocabulary, and analytics. Link an account if you want easier access across supported devices.

How do I look up a word or phrase?

While reading, tap and hold on any word to highlight it, then tap Define or Translate. A definition panel will appear using the Free Dictionary API or Microsoft Translator, depending on your selection.

How do the flashcards work?

Every word you look up can be saved as a flashcard. TeakReader uses the FSRS algorithm (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) to schedule reviews at optimal intervals. Flashcards work in guest mode and linked accounts; linking an account helps keep your review history available across supported devices.

Does the app work offline?

An internet connection is required to start a guest session, link an account, import books, process subtitles, and use definition or translation features. Once a book is loaded, you can read it offline. Premium users can also download offline dictionary data for supported reading workflows.

How do I delete my data?

You can permanently delete guest data or linked account data from within the app (Account Settings → Delete Account). You can also use the Account Deletion page or email us at support@teakreader.com. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.

My book is not displaying correctly. What should I do?

Some EPUB files use non-standard formatting. Try: ensure the file is a valid .epub file (not PDF or MOBI), check that the file is under 50 MB, and try re-downloading from the original source. If the issue persists, email us at support@teakreader.com with the book title and author so we can investigate.

Is my reading data backed up to the cloud?

TeakReader stores reading data, imported books, and flashcards on our servers for your guest or linked app identity. Link an account if you want the most reliable way to pick up your library and progress on another supported device.

Which languages are supported for translation?

Translations are powered by the Microsoft Translator API, which supports over 60 languages. You can set your target language in the app settings. Definitions via the Free Dictionary API are currently available in English.
